Fixed Term - Ka Ora, Ka Ako Healthy School Lunches Cook
The Taneatua School Board is seeking a fixed-term Cook to join our kitchen to provide health school lunches for our tamariki. This is part of the Ministry of Educations Ka Ora, Ka Ako Healthy School Lunches programme.We are looking for a cook who understands the context of our school and our vision. A passion for kai, tamariki, and working with our school community to provide a happy, safe space for our kids.The role involves:
- Are you prepared to Learn? - In this position you will learn about food safety, professional kitchen practice, working within a school environment, working in a team, receiving feedback and working with tamariki and teachers to develop yummy kai.
- Are you Organsied? - In this position you will receive support to learn how to provide kai that meets the Ka Ora, Ka Ako Nutrition Guidelines, reporting and meeting standards, ordering and food prep, and menu development.
- Do you have good Communication Skills? - In this position you will be able to visit classes, talk to tamariki about kai, their preferences and ways to help them make healthy food choices.
- Can you work in a Team? - In this position you will get to work with a team of support staff and teachers who are committed to helping tamariki thrive, including enabling them to participate in events outside of school. You will need to check in with other staff regularly on the events going on at school regularly.
The terms and conditions of this appointment are contained in the Ministry of Education’s individual employment agreement for staff not covered by a collective agreement.
Consent to comply with a Police Vet. is required by all employees of New Zealand Primary Schools according to the Vulnerable Children's' Act.
Hourly rate will be determined based on your skills and experience, but at a minimum will be $23.65 per hour.
